Keith,
Your question about a non-300 transmission part number grabbed my
interest. My 300C was special ordered with a New Yorker drive train so I
wanted to check it out. As you found out, the numbers stamped on the passenger
side rail are 1738227 J & then C421891. I would think the last number
was a serial number as my car was build on June 12th of '57 and they would have
had a years worth of units built by then.
