Hi J-Y,

I just went through this when installing the rebuilt motor in my F, installing new hoses. As has been commented in other emails today, my local Napa guy advised the springs are no longer used in the lower radiator hoses, as we've known them to be since at least the 50s, saying the currently manufactured hoses are stronger and don't collapse in on themselves. Speaking with Murray Park, he reiterated the same comment. I was going to have Murray send me one anyway, but then found one in good shape, that's now inside my lower hose. Murray said he could dig one up if needed.

Speaking of rad hoses, anybody have a source for the coil wire present in the lower rad hose to keep it from collapsing? I have seen that coiled wire in the upper hose of A/C cars as well, it helps it to stay away from the generator or alternator belts. Lower hose wire is slightly bigger diameter vs upper hose wire.
