Thanks Kevin, The spacer will not work under the RV2.
I can seal the old PS units, but nobody makes the scraper plates and springs to actually rebuild them. When the scraper and springs wear the low speed pressure really drops off
and in San Francisco parallel parking it is an issue. I may buy one of their kits and see if I can adapt it to work. Best, James From: Kevin
deGraauw <kdegraauw@xxxxxxxxxxx> They do make a 1" thermostat spacer you can install between the neck and the water pump housing that allows you to screw in a temperature sensor for EFI but it can be a little tight
under that RV2 compressor. This would allow you to retain that housing if it helps with alignment. And yes the federal and trw pumps can be problematic if worn out, but relatively easy to reseal if you are careful when pressing the pulley back on ( with the
reservoir removed of course). I bought and installed a sanden bracket and went through this pulley nightmare myself to get it all to align. Got it to work with trial and error. Good luck! Kevin From:
James Douglas <jdd@xxxxxxxxxx> Thanks…I am sick and tired of the TRW pumps, and I am thinking of trying to use a brand-new Saginaw. Borgeson makes on and uses a spacer between the bracket and the pump housing.
I can make up new ones if need be, for alignment. In the next month or so, I plan on tearing down the front of the engine (again, I just did it 2 years back) not because anything is wrong, but I need the later 1960’s water pump
housing that has the second port for a temperature sender. I plan on EFI at some point, so it needs that. I am sticking with the RV2 A/C so getting everything to work is a little bit of a pain. Best, James From: Kevin
deGraauw <kdegraauw@xxxxxxxxxxx> About 3/4" difference in diameters. Assuming the Chrysler federal pump is used for either scenario. I have also found the pulley offset from the hub is slightly different too. Kevin From:
'James Douglas' via Chrysler 300 Club International <chrysler-300-club-international@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Anyone know off hand what the differences are in the pulley for the power steering pump on the A/C vs non-A/C cars? Thanks, James --
